King's Venturer Award

Overview

The King’s Venturer Award is presented to Venturers who have acquired competence and skills that will be of considerable use to themselves, their company and their community. These Venturers will have also been recognized by the company, the Scouters, and Scouts Canada as being worthy of receiving this award. The Award signifies that a Venturer has, in the opinion of those who know the Venturer, both the character and ability to be of significant help to other people.

Recipients of this Award are presented with an emblem by their Venturer Company at an appropriate time and place. They will also receive a scroll at the Region’s annual Youth Recognition Ceremony and a certificate at a special ceremony hosted by the Lieutenant-Governor.

To earn the King’s Venturer Award, a Venturer must successfully complete the following five steps:

  1. Review youth’s personal progression: A review is completed with a member of the Company Leadership Team and a Scouter.
  2. Achieve the required Outdoor Adventure Skills stages: 24 Outdoor Adventure Skill stages need to be completed, in any combination of skills.
  3. Provide the required hours of community service: 60 community service hours need to be completed, in Scouting or non-Scouting activities.
  4. Complete a meaningful service project: The project may be completed individually, or as part of a team, with the expectation that all Venturers participate fully and share the work.
  5. Final review: A final review of the Award project is completed with the Company Leadership Team, or its designates.
